Situated in a strip of well-established modern beachside homes, it was important to the owners of 8 Berner Street that their home reflect and compliment both the beautiful natural environment and the adjacent buildings. The coastal location called for materials that not only suited the design scheme, but were durable and functional in a sometimes harsh environment.
Product used: Havwoods HW961 Amendo timber flooring
Architects CKDS Architecture took on the challenge of delivering a design scheme crafted around reconciling the competing ideals of prospect and refuge, public and private.
The sometimes harsh coastal environment played an important part in the decision process for product and material selection. Materials were required to be robust and durable at the same time as compliment and align with the already well established residential strip, beautiful coastal walkways and stunning landscaping.
The brief included a request for a simple material and colour palette that echoed integrity, honesty and abundance.
CKDS chose Havwoods HW961 Amendo timber from the Venture Plank range, to feature throughout the home.
The selection of Amendo timber was made due to its strength, warmth and natural colouring, along with its versatility of use which allowed it to feature not only as flooring but also to continue to design over stairs, walls, ceilings and even doors.
The beautiful colouring and natural characteristics of genuine timber compliment the design scheme perfectly, reflecting the coastal landscape while providing the all-important durability required for coastal living.
