Dartmouth Annexe encompasses Brewer’s signature ‘Scandi-Modern’ aesthetic, mixing neutral colours, exposed brickwork and natural materials.
As Britain’s oldest conservation area, Blackheath in the Royal Borough of Greenwich is a historical site of significant architectural importance, with buildings dating back to 1790. Situated alongside the open space of the heath and RIBA Awards-nominated Mews House, Dartmouth Annexe is a new-build speculative property designed by Suzanne Brewer Architects.
Clad in timber panelling and painted to reflect the saddle oil coating of the site’s original stables, Dartmouth Annexe encompasses Brewer’s signature ‘Scandi-Modern’ aesthetic, mixing neutral colours, exposed brickwork and natural materials.
The ground floor arrangement, which comprises of an open-plan kitchen, dining and living space, and adjacent bedrooms, required flooring that unified each area and created a natural flow from room to room. Havwoods’ Natural Oak Herringbone fitted the brief with its golden-toned hue and hardwearing, engineered construction.
The expanse of glazing throughout the build welcomes an abundance of natural light, highlighting the tonal variations in wood flooring to create a bright and contemporary space.
