Located in Central Milan, the homeowners of a luxury two-floor residential apartment worked with designer Marco Islas to create a spacious home with a design that complemented the period features of the property, with 21st century functionality.
The homeowners’ brief was for the installation team to adopt a commonsense approach to the layout and direction of each room, which was dependent on wall locations, natural light and the size of a room.
The homeowners wanted to retain some of the Italian parquetry features and for the property to exude a vintage feel, so opted for the deep tones and popular shape of Havwoods’ Hartland Rustic 70mm Herringbone flooring from the Henley collection.
Running throughout the property, from the bedroom to the hallway and living spaces, each room required differing parquet layout requirements, based on the walls and fireplace features. The alternating diagonal lines of the planks helped to maintain the spacious feel of the property, whilst the darker tones added warmth and interest against the pastel colour palette.
The intricate ceilings, curtains, rugs and artwork complement beautifully and add plenty of character to the home, while the style of the Havwoods flooring results in a timeless design that will last for years to come.
