Bowness On Windermere

From the eye-catching stone walls which are cohesive with the exterior walls, to the wooden staircase and large floor to ceiling windows with stunning views of the lake. The designer, Ben Cunliffe, uses quality materials to create real depth, texture and intrigue in the space. 

In the middle of the hallway is the impressive floating staircase where Havwoods’ Salvo 1-Strip boards from the Venture Plank collection have been installed. Made of multi-layered European Oak which has been brushed and smoked, the deep Cocoa-coloured steps are bold and dramatic, to reflect the home’s surrounding scenery.  

Drawing the eye up, the steps lead to the landing which has been finished with matching planks for continuity, through to the upstairs where Salvo Herringbone boards have been installed. Opting for a different pattern in the same colour creates natural zoning between the two floors while still allowing for a seamless flow as part of the design scheme. The dark floors have been paired with neutral walls, a vaulted ceiling with characterful beams and dark elements via a built-in bookcase and velvet sofa – resulting in a cosy and welcoming space for the homeowners to enjoy.
