It’s a Havwoods lift off

10 Jun 2024

To recognise the commitment, hard work and dedication, Havwoods wanted to reward and recognise some of our star performers across the business. As a result, on Monday 10th June a group of staff were taken on a very special helicopter ride around the stunning Lake District area! Here are the thoughts from two of our team members, recognised for their outstanding work at Havwoods.

I can’t thank everybody enough for this recognition. It’s an amazing opportunity and one that I could never have imagined, it means the absolute world to me. Plus I get to take my camera for some aerial shots!

I have worked for Havwoods as a Facilities Assistant for 20 months now and have to say, they are truly the best company to work for. Everybody is treated equally regardless of position, and I was made to feel at home right from day one.  I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Havwoods to anybody looking for employment.

I have worked for Havwoods for over 17 years. This has covered several areas including, Sales, Marketing, Returns, Clearance and currently I’m in the new product development team. Havwoods have a strong work ethic, but we don’t take life so seriously that we wouldn’t have some time for fun too! We have a strong team culture, with a degree of trust, freedom and responsibility not often found. The norm here is we are given a wanted result, but the working out of the how is not necessarily prescribed. We are judged on results, are given scope to test novel ways of getting those results. This is probably our primary driver of change, and the reason we stay streets ahead of any would-be competition.

Everyone is different, but as I am a ‘team first’ thinker I prefer company wide, or a team wide recognition rather than standing in the spotlight alone. Havwoods has a fair mix of both types, with the company-wide bonus scheme and more individual rewards. If I had the choice, we would all get a seat on the chopper!

Even if the job itself isn’t exactly what you think you’d like to do, the company, camaraderie and general atmosphere is enough to inspire you to give it your best. The results are noticed, and support is freely available if you want it. It’s no accident that many of us have close relatives working in the business; it is the result of personal recommendation.
