Set in 21 acres of woodland in upstate New York, minutes from the villages of Rhinebeck and Red Hook, the 4,000 sq ft Forest Ridge residence takes inspiration from an Alpine chalet, blending rustic elements with a sleek, modernist design.

Galston European Oak engineered wood flooring was installed throughout, from the Havwoods V-Collection. Using a consistent product and pattern allows for a cohesive, seamless design aesthetic to be achieved. In Forest Ridge that has been achieved on scale to great results.
The design was led by architect practice, S3 Architecture with interior finishes by acclaimed hospitality designer Kristen Cochran Design and furnishings design by Upstate Down.
Doug Maxwell, Partner at S3 Architecture states, ‘With nature as our inspiration, we wanted a very muted calming interior palette, with punctuations of dark dramatic elements, that would mirror the exterior timber cladding. The wood flooring finish was key to this, to be subtle and muted but also stay warm and natural. We work a lot with subtlety with our interiors.’
