The refurbished Parade Ring restaurant at Ascot takes inspiration from the elliptical shape of the Parade Ring itself; from millinery – an art which is closely linked with the racecourse and widely celebrated at the Royal Meeting every June; and from the color of the Queen Anne rose, in recognition of the racecourse’s royal founder. Yet it was the choice of wood flooring which seemed to provide much food for thought at residential and hospitality experts SHH Architecture and Interior Design.
Our first enquiry was for the bespoke pattern produced for the apartments in One Tower Bridge, but made up using Fossil, a planed and lightly smoked timber with a white oiled finish from our Henley range. A week or so later interest had turned to a chevron pattern, again using Fossil. But after a visit to one of our London showrooms, the designer fell for a couple of Trapa products: Nova and a special order lime washed finish, both similar shades to Fossil but this time in herringbone. After a second showroom visit, however, SHH firmed up on their decision for a chevron, but not in the original Fossil; instead they opted for a similar shade but in a smooth finish PurePlank in Champagne (available as a chevron only to order).
