Nestled on the streets of Cobble Hill in Brooklyn, New York - a spacious three-bedroom townhouse. designed by TW2M Design/Build, is fitted with a unique configuration of engineered hardwood planks. The 1,700 square-foot Wellington Residence features a stunning application of the Pureplank collections' Alzon Rustic plank from Havwoods International in the foyer, living room, kitchen, master bedroom, master closet, hallway and stairwell.
The versatile size of the Alzon Rustic planks allowed TW2M, a New York City based design/build studio, to use the European engineered hardwood not only on the floors, but also for the walls, the ceiling, and as seating. With an open plan in the kitchen and living room and over 15-foot high ceilings, TW2M wanted to ensure the space was not only modern but also welcoming. With that in mind, the team created a design that utilized the wood as a tool to define the different areas while maximizing the height and more.
"The particular colorway chosen for the Wellington Residence brought much-needed warmth. "The soft, earthy tones and textures enhance the space with a subtle and comfortable finish element, complemented by the minimal and clean overall design." - Bassem & Wassim Shaaban, Founders of TW2M.
Pureplank for walls
Many Havwoods' wood flooring products may be used as cladding, but traditionally those featuring a click system are not considered suitable because the tongue and groove are too fine to take a wood screw securely. PurePlank solves this problem with a special mounting clip which slots onto the protruding groove, providing a stable fixing which may be screwed onto the supporting wall battens.
The pre-finished, FSC® certified, 5/8" (14MM) (14mm) engineered planks are milled in Europe and ultilize a 5Gs click system and triple layered construction with a European oak lamella. They may be fixed to walls horizontally, vertically, or even diagonally, using the specially designed mounting clips and generally available finishing materials such as aluminium flat and angle bars on the internal and external corners. PurePlank for walls carries a 20-year warranty.
